What are the benefits of joining SWE?
There is no formal registration fee to become a member of the UMD chapter. You can consider yourself a member of SWE if you attend our events! Get regular updates about events by adding us on Facebook -- Society of Women Engineers - UMD.
The Society for Women Engineers is happy to provide access to the SWE lounge in Glenn L. Martin Hall (0114 EGR) for any Clark School of Engineering student who is a member of the the SWE National Organization. If you would like to obtain a SWE National Membership and are unsure how to do so, follow these steps!
1. Go to http://societyofwomenengineers.swe.org/
2. Click on the "Membership" tab.
3. Under "Membership", click "Join".
4. In the left navigation panel, click "Become a Member (Non-member)".
5. Enter your information and click "Create Account".
To become a national member, all you need to do is fill out a membership application and pay $20 per fiscal school year.
As a paid member, you will receive the monthly SWE magazine in the mail and our own SWE-zine, a regular update sent out by email that includes upcoming events and helpful information.
Once you are a national member, you are also eligible for numerous scholarships, networking, and career planning opportunities! You will be able to attend professional development seminars, as well as leadership and management skills workshops. And of course, you will have access to our wonderful lounge!
